The SPHL tried the EHL name. The ECHL asked them to change it saying it was to close to their name. Good luck with that.

Interesting. South Jersey would be great for me but, as noted above, where would they play? Same goes for Long Island. Neither has an area capacity larger than 1000. South Jersey, no larger than 500, that I know of. Maybe they're backing off the 2000 seat arena thing and are being more conservative with the arena size. I did hear a RUMOR during the season that someone was interested in bringing a team back to AC. I can't imagine them playing at Boardwalk Hall but, anything can happen I suppose.
I still have a heard time believing Mr. Friedman would buy a team for the sole purpose of helping Brooklyn have a team, just to move it the next year. If the talk of them being unable to find a home in Brooklyn is true, I could see him keeping it afloat by moving to Long Beach, NY or close to his home in NJ.
Saying that, Danbury does deserve a team with a good arena deal. I only covered one game there but the crowd, albeit small, was boisterous. I hope I get to see the joint full.
Allegedly....the EPHL is dead, Curtis Russell and Tim Koplein will not be involved with the new league. The Aces are moving to Danbury if Aces' owner is involved with the new group.
The new group allegedly will be led by Jim Riggs and 5 new teams.
-Long Island team
-2 Ma teams (owned by one individual)
-2 additional teams (South Jersey)

I dont see it. Check the IJHL and UJHL and several other junior leagues that are now in the better arenas throughout the EPHL footprint. If the EPHL is in fact coming back and shrinking their model, they should just merge with the AAHL since they would be doing the same thing. The fact that these leagues arent working together is probably the result of people trying to hold on to power, at the cost of actualy doing something smart and good for hockey.

That could very well be the case, Buba. Because you have to know -- all reasons or excuses aside -- he's trying to get a better job. And really, who could blame him? GM at Quad Chitty is roughly the same kind of job as a "pooper scooper" following the Budweiser Clydesdales around during a parade. Sure, Riggs won't use a shovel in a literal sense, but the function of the job is about the same.
