using his prognosticating powers to tell us what's going on with Flint?
In or out??

They are in, but it will be another trainwreck. They have been saying Flint is in for months, I dont think a speacial report is needed. Will be easy to see when their protected list comes out for the expansion draft.

Oh, man....kinda hard to renew that rivalry when you feel so sorry for them that you want to hand them a win!
Guess we'll see today. If three are taken by each team in the expansion draft, I'd imagine that would be six Flint players who will be celebrating tonight!

Cohn is on vacation.
He updates when he has the chance or has someone else do it.
Maybe you can e-mail if and ask if you are really concerned....

What's there for Cohn to say? They're in this league and quite a few of us know that. It's just people like you who can't seem to comprehend that, quackers.

When has it ever been mentioned by anyone connected to the team that they would not be back?

The argument is that there is no longer anyone connected to the team.

I just called the team's published phone number - (810) 742-9422, expecting to get an answering machine with some vague recorded message by the Generals front office. Instead, there was a "disconnect" message from the phone company.
Why on Earth would you disconnect your team's pubished office number (even temporarily) if something isn't horribly amiss? Somebody please try to spin this in a way that doesn't have me laughing so hard, I pass out on the floor.

Somebody connected to the team was involved with todays draft. Flint did quite well in my opinion.

Yeah, cause there is no way in hell the league could simply not just select some players for the team. There certainly was UN inspectors there to independently verify the results.

Yeah, it will be funny until the schedule is made (with Flint on it) and then suddenly every team has to jumble their dates around because the Generals can't ice a team.
I'm happy we have hockey and that my beloved Mallards are coming back, but this IHL thing is going to take some getting used to. In any other league, the people running it would not tolerate this sort of eerie silence from any organization. It's time for the IHL to grow a pair and ask Flint to sh*t or get off the pot.

So what your saying is that someone from the league is drafting players for a team that does not exist? Hmmmmmm!!!! Great logic there!!!!!!

There's a difference between existing from an administrative standpoint and actually fielding a hockey team when the season is underway. (See: Chicago Hounds)
No working phone number, no season ticket orders being taken. Even you have to admit this Flint situation looks funny.

First of all, where has it EVER been stated that they aren't taking orders? They aren't taking MONEY, but they are taking the orders.

The last update to the tickets page was in March, (http://www.flintgenerals.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=824&Itemid=105) where it clearly states....
Availability based on a first come first serve basis.
$70.00 deposit for each seat with full payment by May 31st
For more details or to make a deposit visit:
Dial the number given and you get the following message:
"The party you are calling has temporarily disconnected their service."
How on earth are you supposed to give them even your name if they don't have a phone???!
What's the office staff doing over the summer, sending messages in Morse code?
If I'm a Flint STHer, how do I find out in July what happened to my season ticket deposit from April?
Can't even email them, because the only contact information (http://www.flintgenerals.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=492&Itemid=100) is that same old phone number.
So I live 20 miles outside of Flint and want to call and find out when I can come in and talk to them about season tickets....oops, no phone that works!
If any other business that you needed to contact was operating without providing customers with a means of getting in touch with them, you'd be (justifiably) complaining to the high heavens!

I like how you have to explain to these clowns what the difference between a working and non-working phone is.

Here's an idea....maybe they ought to update the website to reflect that?
Or, even wackier, maybe they ought to publish something in the paper?
That isn't even Marketing 101. It's just plain old common sense. Because they sure aren't going to get many new STHers if they don't know where to buy tickets....and can't contact anyone to find out how to get it done.
Unless, of course, they're going to sell hundreds in that last month or so before the season begins. You know, the same time of year when parents are having to buy kids clothes and shoes to go back to school, pay tuition, pay for the vacation that they took during the summer....

This is the #1 reason why I didn't want QC joining the IHL. It's stupid BS like this which makes the stability of the league and the credibility of those who run it very questionable.
It's not hard to maintain a working phone number if you pay your bill. It's not hard to let your customers purchase season tickets if there will be a team playing in October. Yet, we're being fed a plate of crap about why Flint doesn't have a working phone or isn't letting fans pay for their season tickets.
Unbelievable.

How hard would it be for Flint to start taking your money in exchange for season tickets? How hard would it be for Flint to pay $50 to have their phone reconnected? How hard would it be for Flint to issue a press release saying that everything is a go for 2009-10?
None of the above requires any real effort by the Generals. Certainly they can't be that lazy.

Perhaps they can't take money until/if the ownership actually changes. If TPG owes as many people as has been reported, the Generals might not have that money to give back to STHers if they need to.

No one is saying Flint will have a good team this season...although i heard the coach they have lined up is not bad at all. Should be able attract players here. But the team will be run 100% better...it is a rebuilding period for Flint hockey.

Real hard legally depending on exactly where the ownership process is. Which has nothing whatsoever to do with laziness - how did you come up with that one?
It's early in the summer to be whining about this stuff. Look around, the other leagues aren't exactly doing a lot either, with the exception of the Europeans. At least, not a lot that's visible. I bet you could go back and look at past seasons and see the exact same thing.

Really? I could go back and find a bunch of teams with no functioning official phone number, no paid season ticket holders, and no information about who (if anyone) is running the team at the moment.
Minor league hockey is chaotic, to be sure, but not that chaotic.
